A brief history of Jenn's Kitschen

It all started about two years ago.

I was at yet another accessories store (Claire's, Icing, what have you) and had bought yet another necklace at some ridiculous price. Eventually, I sat all the jewelry I had been purchasing side by side and noticed something: they were all relatively easy to make. My jewelry tastes listed towards the sparkly, but minimalist--wires and crimp beads and interesting colors. I realized as I accompanied my mother to the local Ben Franklin (a craft store chain) that I could buy many of the materials that made up the necklaces I was shelling out $15-$20 dollars for at accessory stores for about that same price bracket and make several necklaces for the price of one.

And so an errant thought became a hobby. I bought me some beads and wire and crimp beads and went to town. My first attempts were...interesting, to say the least. But as I improved and learned new techniques, my jewelry became steadily more interesting (in the good, aesthetically pleasing way) and I began to experiment more with different beads and color combinations.

This was all well and good until I looked at my jewelry collection and noticed that between my supplies and finished products...I was running out of space in my tiny dorm room to house it all. So I did what any cash-strapped college student would do: I tried to sell it.

And thus Jenn's Kitschen was born, mostly out of a bad pun, but partly out of my desire to be crafty and make things but not have to store them afterwards. I wanted the fruits of my labor to go out into the world and make people happy, rather than needlessly clutter up storage boxes in my tiny closet. So that's the story of Jenn's Kitchen! And I hope you enjoy the show!
